Hello all!! I currently in the process of treating my own mixing and mastering room in my house. I’m building corner bass traps. My dilemma is I see “everywhere” that everyone covers their panels and traps with cloth. But I was going to cover mine with acoustic 1-1/2” or 2-1/2” foam. It would be easier and look nicer, and I’ll get the extra thickness for more sound absorption. “So I think” but I may be blocking the audio, thus not letting the traps do their job. Please help. And thank you. Cloth or foam. Thanks again. I’ll post pics.

Thats what i was thinking. So I should probably stick with the 1-1/2 , because it’s obviously more transparent than 2-1/2? What do you think? Thanks for the reply
I don't think its going to affect the absorber tuning at all. As said before, the open cell PU foam is transparent to LF in the thickness you used. It will just act like an absorber alone with added mid frequency absorption from the foam.
Wrap your head in foam while your dog barks. Any difference?I may be blocking the audio
The "blocking" effect of fuzz/foam is almost nothing.
Right on. 👍🏼Acoustic 'open cell' foam is reported to be fairly transparent to bass. It's main job would be to protect you from the glass fibres.
I was considering brand felt designer series to cover rockboard. It comes in attractive colours. It might look nice in your situation and keeps the glass fibres from releasing into the air but will provide negligible
measured added absorption. It would finish it off cosmetically. Very expensive though.
nice job!
