Got an A88 which has been much modified. I found the previous owner had cut most of the cables in the preamp, so I stripped all of that out with the intent of using it as a straight power amplifier. However, I have run out of both expertise and time and would like an expert to give it a once over and do some basic testing. Very happy to pay for your time and ship it down to you, but I would rather get it working than scrap it. Of course, the original case is now full of holes etc where the knobs and switches once were so I am going to build a wooden case for it. If anyone wants some 88 spares, please get in touch!
Fantastic! I'm in Troon, Scotland. I have some circuit boards coming over from Canada - I don't think it would take much to get this going, but it needs an expert 🙂
I too I'm in Canada so the help will be limited.
I sold a whole bunch of A88 partially working and good for parts a long time ago.
I wouldn't be surprised the parts you found came from that stash.
Do you have the schematics?

Yes, I realised that you were kind enough to send me the schematics some time ago! I am a Canadian citizen myself but living in the UK so I appreciate that the help will be limited, but any you can provide would be gratefully accepted. As mentioned, I'm happy to pay for your time. I am a PC fixer so I can solder and stuff, but knowing where to start testing stuff with amps is beyond me. I can take better pictures and send them to you to show you where I'm at. It's possible it was part of that stash as the previous owner mentioned that the power supplies were set for 110 v.
It looks as if the power board I got is burnt a bit but maybe I can help it along.
cheers
Phil
