Thanks...too small also...what I am debating on doing is using a 1/4" threaded rod (3' long), and then if needed get a thin piece of tubing to insert over the threaded rod (I am using 2 1/4" metal sleeves for the exterior look. The 2nd option is to is to use the 1/4 20 ones I have on order, and then either tap the end of 3/8-3/4: allthread rod or find a screw on adapter to convert to from the larger size to the small.

Now I am making 3 of these racks and 2 will be stacked...will a 1/4" allthread be able to withstand the weight, with the rack being 30" wide and deep?

Too small??...M8 internal thread is 8mm dia. & 12mm long........nut is 17mm long & 17mm overall head dia.

What dimension is too small when you are using 1/4 threaded rod as M8 is bigger..?

My allthread will be one of the following...3/8", 1/2", or 5/8"... I have found thread adapters that will convert to 1/3" on all of the above allthread rods. The too small part is the top cap...hence why I need to use adapters to reduce the size. I posted a message in my local FB group to see if anyone has the capability of turning down and or rethreading to the 1/4".
