how to add Toslink digital output to Philips CD930

Hi,
I'm proud to read this great Forum. I'm new.

I own a Philips CD930 player- I've found the mainboard has the possibility to add a toslink port.

this is the service manual : cd930

If you see it there is the name of the digital transmitter chip used for the analog output and it has a pin for the digital output.

Please let me know if it is possible . I found a toslink connector with 3 pins but on mainboard and electrical scheme there are 4 pins. I don't know the meaning of the Led signal for the fourth pin.

thanks

There is a spdif output on the player which consists of gnd and spdif connections.

With a toslik you need the spdif signal, gnd and a power supply for the LED inside the toslink transmitter.

It should be straightforward to convert the spdif to toslink with the addition of a transmitter with a power supply.

Otherwise you can get and spdif to toslink converter on amazon 🙂

the philips mainboard has the possibility to add a toslink transmitter. I asked if someone had just done that mod.
In the cd maninboard there is a place to add the transmitter with 4 pins .I 've found transmitter with 3 pins ( GND, Vcc, Vin)

I've searched the philips Cd950 scheme as it has the toslink transmitter. The Cd930 and Cd950 has a similar gate microchip for the digital signal output.

This is the CD950 scheme :

This is the CD930 scheme:

As you can see there is the pin for the toslink output. it is necessary to add some capacitors and resistance .

This is the gate chip specs:

This is the toslink transmitter pinout; as you can see this have only three pin and I don't understand how to manage the pin 3 on philips CD930 mainboard.
