So I want to swap bass drivers in the U15 to JBL 2240. These are awsome speakers but what would happen if I swapped the bass drivers for 2240s? Same spl. Obviously I would build cabs but now response is way lower. Win win?
Hey Disco Pete
It looks like the 2240 has less X-max than the U15 woofer so it probably has less total output. The 4" coil may offer more thermal power handling but other than that I see no advantage in the 2240. The stock woofer is pretty hard to beat by any standards. It's an 18 Sound 15ND930 in 4 ohms if you want to look up the specs or do some simulations between the two.
Good luck,
Todd Michael

Okay so I didn't realize who was talking to me til I took a gander. No point in disturbing the U15s. Guess I'll mate them to a pair of subs.Hey Disco Pete
