Looking to build smallish portable set.
Powered by Bluetooth 2.1 amplifier with batteries .
The idea is to have 2 speakers being joint most of the time to carry around easily but also be able to separate both of them when I want to hear stereo.
So what are some ideas for locking mechanisms to join the two speaker boxes. I am thinking of having a sub that might also be attached at the bottom of the two speakers
The sub I'll probably not carry around too much..
Speaker boxes are around 6x6x 12 each.
The cheapest might be using wellpro to join 2 speakers but was hoping to find something slicker

I wonder whether the question of speaker enclosure hardware isn't something better covered in the PA Systems subforum. We could see how it goes here first if you like.
Luggage/suitcase latches? This link is just an easy example; I don't know anything about its quality.

I built a portable player with detachable speakers and used flight case components from Penn Elcom. The trick is to get the mini sized parts, latches and lift off hinges. Here are links to the manufactures site, you can also get them parts express. Here are pictures show the hinges, latches and a speaker detached.
