Prototyping Eico ST70 quad upgrade posted below-
Can the 3 triodes be combined into one 6U10? The 2 low mu triodes replace the 6SN7, the 1 hi mu replace the 1/2 12AX7?
I've compared voltage rec's and max's.. also curves... they seem similar... but wanted to ask opinions here. Koda has posted using the 6U10.. what are your opinions on these design subs? Will there be a trade off in sound quality ??
Thanks,
Jim

Some fine guitar amps have become unmaintainable because supplies of their triple-triode ran out. Even the only-dual 7199 has orphaned many popular amplifiers. FWIW, your 7591 orphaned some mighty fine amps when it went out-of-stock about 1989. (Who knew it would come back in 20 years? Who knows if a Russian "7591" is really equal to a Kentucky G.E. from 1969?)
Sure, you can stock-up a lifetime supply. I mis-designed a chip-amp, was killing a chip every few years, so I got an envelope-full.

Thanks PRR,
I've done supply check- Vendor I use has 12 6U10's in stock.
More worried about stock of 6GM5 using as 7591 sub. Wiped out their inventory w/ order of 8 yesterday. Since 7591, 7868, 6GM5 seem to be equivalent, can design PCB for 3 diff socket pin layouts on same center to prevent getting an 'envelope-full'
Other Q is performance equivalence, do you recommend any design changes?
