I recently bought a used D200i and I wonder if it’s been “tweaked” with.
It’s fully functional but cooling fins are basically room temperature. As they look like they can take some heat it makes me curious.
Measuring input power to <60W. Manual states 100W idle. I’ve asked Gamut without any answer.
I found a schematic online supposed to be for D200 ( not i) which is attached. The only thing to adjust seems to be for dc-offset or is it for something else?
I would really appreciate if someone has a D200i schematic to share. A service manual even better of course 😊

That's a VBE multiplier for setting output stage bias current. The circuit has a servo (LF411) to look after dc offsets.
Deerhunt. First of all it's an xelent amp 😉. When they die you usually get a high distortion on the treble area (you can hear it).
They DO run pretty cool (30 is deg) and all the magic is in the single transister output and the quite sophisticated servo (they sounds great from the sec. you turn them on).
They are designed by Michael Edinger ( https://www.stringamp.com/ ). He upgrade them for a fair price, and then they go from fabulous to fantastic 😉.
It has been my keeper for a long time 😉. (pass through has been MC275, Accuphase, Pascal(class d), and a lot other I have forgotten 😉 )

Thanks cowanaudio for straightening that out. I opened and had a look at the pot. It’s lacquered and untampered with so I’ll leave that as it is.
reenberg - thanks for you suggestion! Seems like you have tried a few hq amps! I have also had an Accuphase but now a Krell KSA80B is the amp to beat. Not sure the Gamut will do that?
What would you say the upgrade does sound wise with the D200i?

I had a mc275 on a pair of Martin Logan Vantage, and liked the setup. But when i tried the MusicLab D200 it was better in all ways.
Same sweet tone as the Mcintosh, but much more well defined bass, and better stereo perspective ( I have a Rell sub as well). And honestly I tried to love the MC275 more, course of its wonderful look, but I had to give up...

I went on and contacted Michael at Musiklab. He is the original designer of the GamuT D200.
After some dialogue I sent my unit to him for upgrade.
He explained a few things and it felt worthwhile to invest.
Picked it up earlier today, hooked it up and sitting now enjoying my old/new amplifier😊
Still very transparent, detailed and soundstage to die for.
What is clearly improved is the top end which has gone from slightly sterile to well integrated, soft and “analogue”, in lack of better words.
Upgrade recommended!
