Alpair 10p vs MAOP-10

I now have my 10p enABL2 based Halcyon speakers working well and sounding pretty good. I do sense a bit of congestion when played loud in the upper end, which is dominated by the 10P. Mind you, they sound very good, and are pleasant to listen to. However, I wondering if the MAOP-10 or the metal 10m would solve my issues? I listen mostly to classical, Jazz, vocals, etc. No rock.

The extra cost of the MAOP-10 is not an issue as I have spent way more in the cabinets and crossovers (and the amp and dacs to drive them) then the costs of the original 10p driver by several times. I will have these speakers for a long time and am curious to know if I can squeeze the last bit of performance by the MAOP-10s. With the Halcyon Design, bass is not the issue as the bass duty it handled by a pair of SB acoustic woofers on summed transmission lines.

It is the mids and high end I hope to improve. I would appreciate any insight from anyone on the forum.

I haven't listened to 10P but 10.2 Maop on the other hand. Have A12P though.
10.2 Maop has better midrange and treble. That is my opinion. There is nothing to complain about in these registers. They sound great on Class D and with a tube amp.
The sound competes with the best 2 road speakers.
Of course, they can't move much air like a 6.5" or 8". But the base is enough for me.

Dave, need any more info on this than that the XO would need redoing?

Another amp & a 6-24 (although there is value in getting a cheap miniDSP to figure out where and how fast.

You all so would not have to worrying about woofers too sensitive as opposed to not sensitive enuff as they are now.

The M10.2 has flatter top end & more resolving, A10p romantic with a vintage (softer) top end.

A12p has similar voicing but less DDR/resolution even before EnABLing.

Grab some M102 while you can & build the box Leif did, listen and see if you think it the direction you would like to go.

Hello Dave,

Thanks for your comments. It just may be that the M10.2 is what I really want, but at this point I need to turn my attention to other tasks. I appreciate that you have outlined the sonic differences in a way that makes sense to me. As I said before, I have added just a touch of top-end EQ into the 10p and perhaps I wouldn't have to in the m10.2.
