Yes, I had a first-generation (without flames) Sound Wagon and kept it on the edge of my desk in sight of the hallway.

What I hadn't realized when I sent in my $7.98(IIRC) is the heavy Doppler of a speaker which moves a large part of a foot every couple seconds. In this New Century I am thinking that BlueTooth is the cure for that.

I faintly remember my 9 or 10 year old brain trying to figure out how you could possibly make a record player work in a car with bumpy roads.
I had one in my Impala lowrider in 1965. It was a 12 disc changer that played them upside down. You pushed the stack upwards onto the fat spindle and the mechanism dropped them one at a time at the end of each record. The tonearm was spring loaded and played the bottom side of the record. The whole setup worked quite well and was stable but it really pushed groove wear beyond sensible.
