On Friday I received an Amazon package, a 4 jaw Chuck rattling around a box with two TA2024 circuit boards, fortunately the circuit boards weren't damaged. They have a multi turn pot on them for some reason.
I get the feeling that the staff in packing departments are under so much pressure to get stuff through quickly, they just grab the nearest box that will do, sometimes I've nearly missed a (even smaller) second item because it's lost in the packing.
Some of the RS prices have gone up a lot recently.

While RS is top quality you do pay for it.
£2 for 4700uf cap and 60p on ebay.
£15+VAT for AD9201 and £1.50 at Ali Express and they work.
Another problem with RS is they want you to buy 5 or 10 minimum when all you want is one.
PIC32mx230 just doubled in price.
Min spend is now £30 excl. VAT.
I quite often order a few items and they come in separate jiffy bags.
They have different warehouses with different stock.
Some items even come from France.

That's me out now. New owners, I believe. They did something similar several years ago, and then backtracked. Let's hope the same thing happens again.Min spend is now £30 excl. VAT.
For me, the worst offender used to be* Arrow, the record being a single order split into 10 separate boxes (2nd pic below - for comparison, next to the Arrow pile, a TME + a Mouser order, a single box each).
(* Used to be, because now they require VAT ID from customers in the EU, which I don't have. Strangely enough, in the past they simply collected the VAT on top of the order value and that was that.)
