So it would have to beat something like an Altec 755A? That was made before 1970 and today, commands a $2500 price for one.
I just dont know enough about speakers to make a suggestion fitting the criteria.

What question are you really asking? As presented it makes zero sense and will go off the rails very quickly. Please respond before that happens and the thread gets closed.
i ask what cheapest fullrange that can beat any speaker made before 1970 in sound qualityWhat question are you really asking? As presented it makes zero sense and will go off the rails very quickly. Please respond before that happens and the thread gets closed.
after 52 year, i feel there is one fullrange that can do that but i do not know which one
Good luck. Not going to happen.i ask what cheapest fullrange that can beat any speaker made before 1970 in sound quality

Take a listen to 15” pre 1970 Tannoy Dual Concentrics. You’re not going to beat ‘em with anything cheap - from any era.
If you’re wanting “cheap” full range speakers you can buy today - check out the Lii Audio F15 and F18. Not expensive and many folks love ‘em. They also have an affordable, new Fast-15 model - different from the F15.
I’d say, let the hammer fall! 🙂What question are you really asking? As presented it makes zero sense and will go off the rails very quickly. Please respond before that happens and the thread gets closed.
Headphones if open-wing crossfeed stereo sound gets further developed. I initiated a thread over in amplifier -> headphones systems https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/open-wing-headphone-crossfeed-stereo-sound.391630/
OP didn't write "cheap", only "cheapest" which could be >$10K or $100K no problem. And, why limit to a single FR driver? Array? Push-Pull? Bi-pole? How about stacking two complementary FR XO-less?
Beat how and in what regard?
Beating the midrange of Quad ELS 57?
Beating the power and inpact of Tannoy hornloaded 15" drivers
The Western Electric horns....
A more stringet question would be about the cheapest 8" fullrange beating all 8" fullrange prior to 1970.
Voxativ drivers beats Goodman Axiom Lowther C6 and Philips 9710. ( as well as some 5" 6.5" and 10" ) But I have not heard all there is or was prior to 1970. To further complicate matters drivers that are at least 52 years old might have changed in various ways due to aging.

TTBOMK there's never been any full-range single driver that can do it nor will there ever likely be one unless huge to compete with horns.cheapest fullrange that can beat any speaker made before 1970?
Can DSP EQ be used (on both new and old)?
Vintage speakers that predate electronic music had not much need to play way loud way low and still remain compact even portable, so if those are the criteria then perhaps possible. Though still not easy, see those huge alnico magnets.

We still manufacture speakers using the same technology as before 1970.
Full-range speaker advancements have occurred with some manufacturers. They have invested a lot of money in increasing the quality.
I like Alpair for their attempts to bring out new models in the cheaper range. With good success.
Then there are more expensive full-range speakers that cost many times more.
These have been developed to be able to compete with multi-way variants.
Many of these expensive ones beat the old ones before 1970. You have to think about inflation since 1970.

The Frugel Horn Mk3, make a pair for peanuts from an 8ft x 4ft sheet of 18mm MDF. Most sheds have a cutting table and all you will have to is to cut the curve at the back. Glue it together using weights e.g. water in milk cartons (a cubic metre of water weighs a metric tonne)
The design is very forgiving and will work perfectly well with all sorts of FR drivers.
Nothing to compare it with from the 1970's no one had 1/. the home calculating power or 2/. Mr Martin King

This is all moot.
We have nothing to compare beside the number 1970.
No price range (cheapest according to what?), no expectation over HF and LF, no kind of room will it be featured, no driver size, no enclosure size, no music taste, nothing than the simple "before 1970".
There will be no relevant information, just wasting internet resources, until the OP decides to add a lot more parameters to that question.

Maybe you're right.
But the development of full-range loudspeakers has not been very great if you look back in time
Most of them look the same
The material has developed and they try to find new sounds ...
It's the 'ship of fools' people see and the reason they do the winding up
You should see the class d forum, what a joke!

Is there a particular subject you are referring to?
