I installed a S/PDIF (Toslink) cable from my PC to the PT696BT so I can use the 5.1 setup. When the amp is idle (no playback), I get an intermittent popping or clicking sound. When I use a standard 3.5mm audio cable, there is no popping sound. Can you help me?
Is that an onboard IntelHDA soundcard?
Maybe the soundcard is put to power saving and the SPDIF stream stops, causing a click in the receiver upon stream stop/resume.
Perhaps you could test that by playing a long zero-samples audio file (wav/flac to make sure only zeros are output through the stream).
