How many different Main Boards versions did Yamaha use in the CA-1000?
Apparently there was a number of additions/changes, the boards are marked with different NA numbers from the schematic. They are also rubber stamped and not silk screened on the board.

Just replace the board, the end result will still be average to below average compared to newer amplifier designs.
See the THD and frequency response figures.
Also, it is too much effort, and you have not been clear if you do have a fault.
All this trouble and mental effort for a $15 + shipping item is not worth the time of everybody who tries to help you.

I recently rebuilt a Yamaha CA-1010 and sent it off to an Audiophile who owns over $100K in Audio Equipment. One of his favorite amps is the M-5000 sold new for $10,000. When he compared the CA-1010 ($1,000) to the M-5000 he was blown away with the sound quality improvement of the CA-1010 over the M-5000. The M-5000 has been removed from the system and he listens exclusively to the CA-1010.
