If you look at my attachment in post #2, then the treble and mid frequency level control board must be represented by the dotted outline designated as SA 5830.

I wonder what happened to C1? If you ever saw it, perhaps you could describe it.
It appears to be part of the overload protection circuit which incorporates a quick-acting fuse with LED failure indicator.
I've had no success in locating the relevant circuit diagram, but it's more than possible that someone viewing this thread will deduce the function of the capacitor and suggest a suitable type and value.

See attachment in post #2. The series combination of R1, C5 and L4 is connected straight across the midrange terminals.
I see a diode and zener diode in the protection circuit, as well as the indicator LED and fuseholder. The other components would appear to be resistors.
