Hi, Id like to know how reliable the TPA chip amps are and if theyd be suitable to power a pa speaker.
Specifically a floor monitor. Doesn't need to be so loud, 50watts is fine. But reliability is important

Ok thanks, ill try itIf you mean TPA3116/3118: these are too reliable for what they cost. Just try it out.
As usual with cheap stuff it helps to read some threads about the popular boards here. Some even happen to have relabeled ICs.
In the cheap sector some use normal quality parts around the chip, some don't. All in all reliability is the sum of some factors including the person that uses the device.

Guitar amps are made for guitar cabinets and they are 8...16 ohms.TPA3116/18 won't deliver 50 watts rms in 8 ohms...16ohms is already out of question.
Tpa3250, 51,55 is what you're looking for as they also provide lower distortions and guitar players are quite picky on sound.
Now if 10% distortion is what you're looking for, tpa3116 might work 🙂

Actually, these chips are even being used in quite some guitar amps these days.
But we are talking about a PA floor monitors, not guitar speakers.
It might be an idea to at least put in a simple limiting circuit (some diodes), to prevent the amplifier from heavily clipping.
Make sure you get 4-ohm speakers as well, as being said already, the power isn't great for 8 ohm.
I personally would look a little further, 100-200W Class-D boards aren't so expensive anymore these days.
Gives you a lot more headroom, aka safety margin.

Boards are not expensive, but the PSU will add to the cost. I otherwise agree on more power, unless its for a small practise amplifier
I've been somewhat misled by the thread title, but ok, it's intended to drive floor monitors and the targeted output power is ~50 W. Then I'd recommend TI's TPA3255 in 4SE config. With a supply voltage of 54 Vdc, this chip is good for four channels of 75 W each. Of course you can reduce the supply voltage if you're restricted to 50 W/ch.

Clearly not all TPA are the same, by any means.Any tpa really, like the TPA3116
But asking for precision, data, or even worse: measurements 😱 around here is like pulling teeth.
Oh well.
