Got the Technics tape deck belt fixed. Passed on gear replacement. Dumpster find should remain true to it's dignity of being generous and free. Loving these 70s mix tapes I don't know why I kept. 63 and brings me full circle.
Wow I had found more old tapes. Don't know why I kept them. Some real odd balls. Especially home made mixed tapes from the radio in the 70s. Great memories. Forgot how hissy some recording can be but is part of the charm
I am a true believer in the "Cocktail Party Effect", if you concentrate on the music the background hiss is not noticed!
From time to time I still listen to my 80s cassettes on my Nakamichi CR5, although I must admit I still miss my Nakamichi 582 that I sold when its heads got worn, the best cassette deck I ever had.

Nak, Nak, who's there?
I am the ghost of concerts past.....
Glad you got it going. Enjoy those stabs from the past.

Yes get what you mean about hiss. Had a nice Pioneer deck in first car that sounded pretty good with the Jensen coax. Head replacement is quite easy if parts are available often other brand heads will fit.I am a true believer in the "Cocktail Party Effect", if you concentrate on the music the background hiss is not noticed!
