Options? 1” inch Tweeter vs 1” inch to 2 1/2” fullrange Driver’s for top end?

Good evening every. Am was asked to design and make a speaker for coworker and company I work for. So I was looking at the Dayton Audio Reference series drivers RS225P-8 8” inch paper mix driver’s. I haven’t heard them in person but, I have seen the drivers in person.😁. I’m a big fan of textdome tweeters due to not having a sticky coating on the outer dome plus my dads speakers have a seas textdome tweeters. So that being said, Can I use a
use a 1” inch ta 2 1/2” fullrange drivers in replace of a normal tweeter? Am kooking into the small drivers now. I would like some input with this project? The pros and cons? Thanks so much.

Yes you can. A 1" fullrange may do the top end well enough but it might be less sensitive, so that's more juice that will have to run through that smaller voice coil.

One way to approach this is to ask for suggestions in the fullrange forum, because larger drivers as tweeters should be chosen carefully as they may have a sound of their own.

I like the fe85wk drivers to.😁
X's RS225 / 10F design has inspired me endlessly. I bet they sound incredible!

What do you say you keep a pair of those CHN-40's, and we collab on a prototype? They are not lauded as the best of FR drivers, but as a midtweeter they seem very promising! In a dagger enclosure like X has his 10F in, I bet they'd sing beautifully. X describes the dagger design as offering the transients of an open baffle, but with a monopole sound. To me this idea is incredibly enticing. Maybe the CHN-40's are not the standard of quality you had in mind, but I thought I would put it out there since you already have them! And they are within the size you mentioned

Also worth considering: since the RS woofers have been skyrocketing in price, you might check out the MCM 55-5670? On paper it's quite similar to the RS225P and some folks say it sounds even better. Plus, 40 bucks each..
