My start/stop button does not work and the switch is always is in on -position. It looks like the switch uses red LED (considering the age of the device it can be also a bulb) which does light up because it is likely dead. I can’t see a detector on the panel so I’m not sure how it actually works. I wander if anybody has an experience of repairing the switch or got the circuit diagram.
It is most likely a mechanical switch with an indicator.
Please post photos, top and track sides.
And see if there is a big processor IC inside, if yes, a photo of that too.

I wish it was mechanical as this is exactly was my thought when I was buying it. What looks like a button surrounded bv the SS ring is actually semi transparent glass with either a diaphragm or a focusing lense attached to the opposite side of the glass. The red bulb installed in the bronze fixture (heatsink?) is seating right behind the diaphragm. I cant pull it out further without de-soldering a bunch of wires.
On the second pic the switch is behind transformer. On the next two pics are all components of the driver.
I can’t identify any ICs in the circuit.

My second thought was a capacitive touch switch but I could not see any wires coming from it. I wander if there is integrated light source+ PIN diode behind the red glass but it would be too miniature for the 70th.
When you press it, how much does it move?
Also, some screw are missing from terminals, wires have been directly soldered, evidence of repair.
That is also a problem, if the circuit was damaged in the process.
Wait for the turn table experts to respond.

Are you sure there's a start/stop button?

😀
Power Indicator
Use a 150 k resistor on one leg and a 4007 on the other leg of red LED
Reverse the 4007 if the LED does not light up.

You were 100% correct and I figured it out last night when I pull out the panel with the switches that it was just an indicator light. I'm very surprised that such an expensive turntable does not have stop start button and the motor start spinning once you hit a power button. My other tables are vintage Thank you!😳

Thank you. Somehow I missed this oneView attachment 1087373
