Zen Variations 8 - Headphone amp?

Hi All,

Is the Zen Ver8 suitable for a headphone amplifier?

I've seen that someone already did a similar circuit a while back.

I only need 1W max to drive some 32ohm headphones.

1W@32R means 5V65rms

if you have any gain stage between source and can amp , think of follower can amp

be it cascoded LU or anything else

if you really need gain in can amp itself, build it

also, food for thoughts, take a look at EUVL's iterations for can amp with LU, his web page

There's also the LuFo Lite. Haven't built it myself, but looks interesting.

I built zen lite, with the input buffer of v.4, with IRFZ44N, but many other fets will do the job.
500W Philips linear bulb.
PSU 48V, idle current 0.7A.
Driven by B1, so gain is approx. 6.
Can drive anything@8ohm and above.
Next step will be to try it with a vfet.
