Marantz Capacitors

I am changing out old electrolytic caps in Marantz Model 22. The service manual parts list calls for some as (2.2uf 25V +40). Does anybody know what the + amount is for? I have looked on the boards but they don't look different.

+40%, -20% tolerance, I think.
I would use standard Japanese / European electrolytic caps with +/- 20% (normal) tolerance.

OR: if the seniors tell you, film or other materials may give better results. Take their advice as well.

The only thing I still don't understand is the C303 35V +100, -0%
So if your correct no tolerance for variance in voltage? I am over voltage all all of them anyway, 25v is getting 50v same uF so I should be good.
Thank you for taking time to respond..

It's the tolerance of the capacitance, so +100 %/-0 % means the capacitance must be at least the nominal value and at most twice the nominal value. As +/- 20 % is nowadays a more common tolerance, you would have to use the next higher E6 value for the capacitors with this tolerance:

Original: 22 uF +100 %/-0 %, so the actual capacitance could be anywhere between 22 uF and 44 uF

Replacement: 33 uF +/- 20 %, so anywhere between 26.4 uF and 39.6 uF, well within the range the circuit was designed for.
