LCR fp ca au caps, any good

Hi And thanks for reading.
I purchased several ampohm polypropylene caps from cpc / farnell for use in a 3-way speaker, and instead for some reason they sent me lcr fp-ca-au caps.
The lcr caps are not the ones i ordered, but they do look similar to the ampohm.
I've tried out the lcr's and am underwhelmed to the say the least, boring sound with rolled off highs.
Have you heard anything at all about the lcr's, should i keep them or return them. Any opinions?
Film caps are not supposed to need any burn in time, or am i wrong there.
Many thanks.

Thanks. I have diligently and hopefully run them in for several days, got just over 100 hours of burn in time, still disappointed.
Can't find much about that particular cap on a search.
Do polys need burn in, is that a thing

Expectation bias is a disappointing phenomenon.

It might be that replacing the LCR caps again leads to disappointment. I have witnessed this so many times that I don’t do such jobs anymore.
Still most will replace them again but now for even more expensive caps.

They got used to a certain sound and only need to adapt. Then the thought comes up that replacing the caps was not so good after all.

I would advise to check if the right values have been used. Sounds simple but it happens.

Thanks!
I can't find much about that particular lcr cap on the web, so can't offer any corroboration.
What cap would you recommend for speaker crossovers, is there anything you have tried and liked. Am willing to spend about 10 pounds per cap

Hi I also got caught in boutique stuff and audio brands long ago and after disappointments

It is a question of mental discipline: take a decision not to compare and stick to it.

Tried this a few years ago. Began using BG N in all solid state designs as both coupling in antiparallel connection and decouling. What's not to like? Easy to fit and plenty in stock.

Until one day when the sound got really dull and i lost all that discipline. Took me a while to remove them all. Some boards will need a redesign as there is just no room for a monstrous film cap.

Was i really unhappy with the BG-N? Don't think so, don't remember taking anti depression meds or drinking more than the usual. Just broke the discipline 🙂

It seems Ampohm is out of business and LCR took over. The series name is 100% identical (and the product as well probably). It would not surprise me that LCR was the producer all along as rebranding and relabeling is standard in boutique parts. For the people with too thick wallets and sensitive to emotions. Audio simply is a very small market, too small to start a cap production line for (in general) with competitive pricing. So just change the color of the sleeve of an industrial type, give it gold lettering and a sexy name and they are sold for sure. I have dealt with such and although the products are 100% the same except for the sleeve color many still choose the more expensive audio version!

There are small series produced boutique parts but those are priced accordingly. The tube world eats these caps. Precious metals in the caps and oxidizing metal pins of the tubes 🙂

BTW I don't believe such dramatic differences as described. Caps do differ but expectation bias often does the thing.
