Hey all audiophiles and holics, Got a free View Sonic monitor. Want to watch movies using ONN $50 tablet. Inputs are screw secure type.one is 5x3=15 pin other is 7x3=21 pin. Tablet has small USB. Can I get a connection coupler or new cable? Will it work at all? Give me some input if knowledgeable. Thanks all!. Michael
USB C or micro? Do you have a link to a product page or a model number for tablet?
Hey dk, Thanks for help. Found out it's a micro . I have cable to monitor larger input. The cable says HDMI on smaller end. Looks like bigger uSB? 1/2" about 20 pin holes. Is there an adapter from Mico to the 1/2" one? What is other input on !onitor with ,15 pins? It screws on.. will tablet even work with this computer monitor? Thanks for input! MichaelUSB C or micro? If the tablet is MHL capable, an MHL micro USB to HDMI adapter, then an HDMI to VGA (15 pin) or HDMI to DVI adapter (maybe? Check if the pins look like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface). Neither VGA or DVI send audio, so you'll want to get an adapter to your monitor that has an audio output as well. If tablet is not MHL capable, I don't think it can send any video over its micro USB port.
If the monitor doesn't have HDMI input, it's not going to make any sound (or pass it through). But a 3.5mm stereo cable from the tablet to your sound system should be fine.
You may be able to find a better used TV or monitor for less than the price of an MHL cable. Check the free listings on your local sites. I found my 27" Samsung 1080p monitor on the curb (LED backlit, HDMI audio support), but that's not a common thing.
