Hey!
What are experiences with speakers from Lii Audio?
Which ones have you tried?
Is anyone impressed?
Regards

I have the Silver 10's in the bass reflex enclosures from Lii. These were a gift from one of my distributors, but you can buy them from Lii directly or from Decware. I treated them to internal stuffing and some active EQ, and they work very well - musical and articulate. I expect good results from their other drivers, but have not had the time to explore the other ones I acquired.

I've heared the 8" F8 and the 12" F12, and was not too impressed. The owner asked to design cabinets (paying client so i can't publish) so i did measure them. They are oldskool 1970's style fullrange drivers much like the AN are, but then much better designed and build (very solid build quality i have to say) and it seems that the company is not such a jerk like AN is. the bad side is that the response is ragged, the specs are rarely close to the published specs it seems (and i saw it also when i measured those) and it's very hard to get a solid bass out of them (xmax is about 1mm). They are certainly not neutral sounding, but if you're in that kind of fullrange drivers, Lii is probally (among) the best arround for the moment. And with extensive eq with an dsp (or analog) you can get them probally near neutral sounding.
But for big high sensitive fullrange drivers, i think the Fane Sovereighn 12-250TC is a much better deal, it's much cheaper and way more neutral and controlled in sound and on spec with the published data.

I picked up a pair of Lii Crystal 10 next to new on USAudiomart (the owner liked the scale of the F12 better) at about half price.
I had them in my open baffles for the better part of a year.
The baffles are close in design to the Liionidas (not entirely intentional).
I use AE Dipole 15 driven by Hypex amps on the bottom end. They are set with only a high pass around 25 Hz.
A First Watt B5 does the rest of the signal manipulation.
Amplification driving the Lii rotates based on my mood and what I might have just finished building. I find myself regularly returning to my F2J monoblock clones.
I’m not a fullrange aficionado and my hearing is not magical.
I have also used Fostex 206e, Lowther DX3, Tang Band W8-1808 and Sonido SWR250 field coils in open baffles and/or Oris front horns.
Although I was interested in building a backhorn at one point, as soon as I heard the results with a good OB woofer system it just made more sense to me.
I would say that in my application the Liis were currently in second place and potentially as good if not better than the Sonido.
My priorities for the Sonido were different than the Liis. I was looking for a wideband driver with the best midrange experience possible. The Sonido are less of a “fullrange” in that they don’t have the same upper frequency extension as the Liis. I will need to decide whether I want to add upper frequency help with them. So in that sense the Liis win with smooth high extension that is not shouty and does not irritate me with high frequency resonances.
I have also (since using the Liis) made some changes to my baffles and played with their placement in the room which improved things a lot in my opinion. I believe giving them another shot in this light is worth the effort.
