As described in the drawing notes, bracing is recommended, which I plan to do. The notes do not make a reference to increasing internal dimensions to compensate for the volume of the bracing material. I have a feeling the answer is, "of course!"
The original Pensil 12 has a version with an example holed-brace.
Given the brace can be as much work as the rest of the box so Mark did not have us put it in all of them. I feel it is needed.
The volume of a Pensil is large and a brace does not significantly impact volume but i add 2/3rds the thickness of the brace to the width and adjust the terminus as necessary to compensate. Same with the depth if an additional set of side-to-side braces that are a good idea with deeper boxes.
