Hi all Sonab TT owners.
I have just bought a Sonab 85S and am seeking advice on what cartridges have been found to work well with it. Willing to spend some $s, but nothing crazy expensive.
what are you running?
cheers
Doug

Sonab TTs is a new one for me, seems this one is a relabled Yamaha CS 50P. This one has a technics hedshell. I have seem tables with this arm. Use a proper protractor toalign the cartridge, the bolts will likely be a bit twisted.
I haven’t bought any cartridge recently, but a Grado would be fine.
Audio Technica will get recommended, Shure as well (i alwats thot they suck), there are many others.
What kind of budget? Your phono preamp?
How is the belt?

Mine appears to be fitted with an Ortofon F15EO Cartridge. Stylus is stuffed!
I’m leaning towards fitting an Ortofon Red2M, as it is reasonable quality and plug-in compatible.

Is the Ortofon F15 a good cart? LPgear, etc. have replacement styli available at reasonable prices.
I understand the Ortofon 2M Blue is a big step up from the Red stylus. (Blue = nude elliptical, Red = bonded elliptical).
I'm running an AT-VM95ML with Microline stylus, which sounds a lot better than the plain "E" version bonded elliptical (FWIW).

I never owned one, but if you do some websearch it looks like Ortofon F15 familly are really nice sounding carts, smoother and better balanced than modern 2M series.
I would carefully inspect cartridge body and if everything is ok try to get replacement styli.
It seems like Dacapo Audio still have some originals as well as aftermarkets at deacent price:

I prefer Grado Prestige series. Excellent bass, warm and clean overal sound with very good soundstage. They match really good with my Seas FA22RCZ fullrange speakers.
Only disadvantage are their styli of quite mediocre quality which at my experience dont last long, 150-200hrs top, sometimes even less.
