Yamaha or Alto

I am buying some PA speakers and I am considering Alto TS312 or Yamaha DBR12. Any pros/cons? The Altos seem to have a lot more power reading the specs...

Power is one small part of the puzzle. At this end of the market, I'd go with the Yamaha speakers for the warranty. Don't expect miracles with either, though - these are still cheap speakers in the grand scheme of the PA world.

Yes, but speaker efficiency plays an important role. If they state the same SPL for both, the Altos should play louder. 3dB is half loud. I also prefer Yamaha.
I own an Alto 600W sub and it clips early.
