Hello all,
I’m new to this forum and start off with a problem I need help with, so sorry for that.
I have installed a sound upgrade in the TT consisting of Hertz 2way in the doors, and a JL audio Subwoofer in the boot. These are running from a 4 channel amp and a mono amp. The source is from Apple CarPlay via a PX6 android unit.
My problem is I have an intermittent very high pitch buzz coming from both door speakers and tweeters. It happens roughly every 20 seconds and lasts for 5/6 seconds at a time then goes away.
The engine needs to be on for this to happen.
So far I have double checked my amps ground, both amps are in a splitter block then a single ground to the chassis.
I’ve unplugged the RCAs from the HU, but the noise remains.
I’ve unplugged the RCAs from the amp, but the noise remains.
Unplugging the RCAs doesn’t get rid of the intermittent buzz, but it is quieter.
the only way I can have the HU on without the buzz is when the engine is off.
I’m out of ideas.

With the amp off, what's the resistance read from each of the speaker terminals (black probe on the amp's main ground terminal)?

I get different readings.
L+ is 04.2
L- is 0.02
R+ is 0.02
R- is 04.2
the DMM cables are 0.02
Disconnect all speaker wires from the speaker terminals on the amp and use a test speaker and a short length of speaker wire to connect to the amp. Do you still have the noise?
Try this with and without the RCA cables (and any other cables, like a remote bass cable or anything else that's not required for the amp to power up) being plugged in.

Ok I will try that as soon as the rain here stops and check back in asap.

Weirdly, the rear speakers are also making the intermittent buzz, these aren’t even running off my amp, they are on the stock amp. I unplugged them from the HU and they still buzz.
I’m currently sharing the ground point with my amps and the OEM amp, I’ll try relocating that ground?
with my amps powered off (took the power lead off the battery) the front speakers don’t make a noise, so it’s definitely a noise the car is making that the amps are amplifying. Just can’t figure out what.
Some cars have multiple 'control modules' (ECM, BCM...) that can generate noise in any wiring that's passing near/over them.
Do you get the noise through the JL amp?

both amps are amplifying the Intermittent buzz.
think I’ve tried everything I can think of now,
Do you have enough power wire to run a wire outside of the vehicle to the amps to see if that eliminated the noise?
It doesn't have to be a large wire. but whatever wire you use has to be fused at the battery with the right size fuse for the wire.
What make/model vehicle?
Does the voltage at the power/ground terminals on the amp pulse with the noise?
If so, how much?

The voltage stays constant at 14.01
The car is a Mk 2 Audi TT
With only one amp connected at a time (B+ wire out of amp terminal), does each amp make the noise?
If you load the charging system with all possible electrical accessories on and the engine running, does the noise change (timing/intensity...)?

yes, if I unplug power from one amp, with the other amp powered up, I still get the noise.
if I put my phone on the wireless charging mat, there is a constant noise, different from the intermittent high pitch one. The original noise stays the same.
I unplugged the USBs from the head unit, it didn’t make a difference to the original noise.
I’m getting a spare set of RCAs tomorrow so I’ll run them over the seats just to check. I’m pretty sure they’re not the issue as I get the noise when they’re unplugged.
I was referring to the vehicle's charging system. Turn on headlamps, AC on and fan on max, defroster, heated seats....
