Both AK4458 and AK5558 used in Aurora are in AKM's production recovery schedule, and are set to go mass production summer 2022.
The AKM representative local to my town disclosed that "confidential" schedule 2 months ago while I was enquiring AK4493S engineering samples.

AK5578 are available now on Digikey. It is software and pin compatible with AK5558 but with better specs.
AK5578 is an ADC, not a DAC

I know it is an ADC 🙂 Unfortunately the AK4458 DAC availability is still quite limited and no alternative for it…

I'm really not used to PCB building, so you can imagine how comfortable I am with KiCad... When I export Pick & Place file there are components in the top file, nothing in the bottom. I'm guessing it is normal, but can anyone who knows this stuff confirm please?
Also, before I go crazy and start building one, is the latest version of Aurora DSP available on GitHub fully functionnal and is it programmable through SigmaStudio since it seems theAuverdion control app isn't maintained anymore.

Components are only on top side on that board, so you are ok.
Yes everything is on github and fully functional. The new control sw is web page based instead of separate app.
