Hi,
I'm wondering what material people use for damping the internal walls of PA speakers? I've seen some graphs showing different absorption coefficients at different frequencies for some materials and am not sure what to go for.
Cheers,
Sal

This has a LOT to do with thickness. A 1-inch pad does almost nothing below 2kHz. 8 feet of almost anything will absorb some 100Hz; and up, if not too dense to penetrate.different absorption coefficients at different frequencies
Historically IME, prosound cabs were medium damped with fiberglass insulation covering ~70% of one side, top (or parallel panel opposite the vent), back with OG703 duct board its modern equivalent and if heavily damped, then all walls except the baffle and/or doubling the thickness.
That said, I've seen some more recent prosound cabs that are so acoustically small that they're damped/stuffed with whatever fire retardant material is lightest/cheapest, so your call. 😉

Thanks for the links and suggestions.
Just found this link which may be useful for others if they have the same question - https://www.bobgolds.com/AbsorptionCoefficients.htm
The subs and upper bass cabs that we've built are quite big so ideally wanted a cheap(ish) solution that does the job. Will look into the duct board, thanks!
