I'm curious if anyone has any experience with the Volume input Control Boards on ebay from China

For the price same price it seems it would be too make the equivalent?

Consider this... 1024 steps, too.
I use the simple version. Remote volume no inputs... Works nicely and the IR remote is almost as good as RF

I have used the simpler motorized volume control type and some other Chinese modules from Ebay. They have worked as advertised, but in all cases, the instructions and support documentation were incomplete. The sellers did eventually provide the info I needed but it was slow and poorly translated.
There is some risk that the firmware for the microcontroller will be unfinished and buggy. Note the aliexpress review that says it took over a minute to go from min to max volume. My preference would be something that can be programmed to my liking with Arduino. But for the price, it might be worth discarding the stock "brain" and replacing it with something Arduino compatible.
I was the one that wrote that. There are 7 settings apparently... I didn't use them because I didn't install the indicator LEDs. There might very well be a "fast forward" kind of set up...
From the listing:
"Set 7 kinds of resistance value adjustment methods: press the "set key" in the lower left corner for a few seconds, release it when the indicator light keeps flashing, press the "left button" to see how many times the indicator light flashes, and then press " Back key ".
[Level 4 is flashing 4 times, which means level 1 level 1 adjustment]"
