Hello,
This will be my first speaker build. Would like to try out a full range bookshelf as I don’t have the space for towers. I don’t mind adding a small subwoofer down the line if needed. Is the maop 11 a good choice?
I would be interested in good mids and highs if possible.
Thanks.

The MAOPs are superb. I have not heard the MAOP11, but given it is based on P11 and MAOP10 is based on Alpair 10, i would give the M10 the advantage (soley a guess), but for best top/mids teh MAOP 7 or even teh new MAOP 5.
The M10 will go lowest, M7 next, then M11, and then M5.
Speaking only of Mar-Kens, the M10 fits 17 litres optimally, M7/M11 fit 9 litres and the M5 2.5 litres. The size of the box might impact your choice.
Adding woofers is not hard as long as care is given to a choice that easily meshes with the satelitte, you do want to be able to bi-amp optimally.

It seems everyone loves the MAOP10.2, and it sims better in a bookshelf (~20L size vented box) than the MAOP11, at least as a BR.I would be interested in good mids and highs if possible.

Depends on your priorities. The 11 has a perfectly good alignment in a bookshelf / standmount -it just has a higher tuning frequency and smaller Vb requirement as dictated by it's lower Q. It has, however, about 25% more emitting area and a similar suspension travel with slightly higher efficiency so volume displacement & overall dynamic range are higher.
Yes. Definitely don't want to dissuade anyone from trying the MAOP11. And there are other alignments that would probably work better than the one I've chosen.
Scott, did you design a double chamber vented box for this driver?

Ok, I just found this: https://www.markaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Bianca-Pluvia-11-classic-DCR.png
Going to assume this would work fine for the MAOP11?

I did build small bookshelfs with the Alpair 10.3 that are very good for nearfield and go down to 45Hz flat. Not many bookshelfs, even in multiway setup go that low. My cabinets are 17.9L ported.
The MAOP10.2 should be able to do similar in a similar enclosure. The 11 won't go that low, but still quiet decent, but i would go for the MAOP10.2 if I would be you.

Thanks very much, It is difficult to decide. I'll get the MOAP 10 to start with, but I have the feeling I will be getting another just to compare at some point.
Ok, I have them ordered. Looking forward to building them. Now I need to decide on bookshelf design. Having a look on this forum there seams to be many to choose from. Dave, does the MAOP10 work in your mini onken? Or any other recommendations? Im very comfortable with woodworking/DIY so I'm willing to try anything. I just don't really have an idea of where to start.
There is a specific Mar-Ken for it, so far only the trapezoid, but if asked rectangular, and CGR could follow.

Thanks Dave. Going through the other post I found one by user LeifB60. Looks like he really is enjoying the trapezoid version. How can I get the plans for it?
