What is the cheapest Airplay Receiver Board you can get?

One that is very affordable and supporting AirPlay is the ‘Up2Stream Mini’ by Arylic.
It sells for $49,99

The 'Up2Stream Mini’ is a nice board (I have one), but there are a few caveats:

  • Output is always 44.1KHz/16 bits no matter what the input format
  • The line out isn't what I'd call hi-fidelity. I'd recommend buying the optional DAC board if using analog out.
  • The USB input is for a USB pen drive/stick, 1000 songs limited. Don't expect to stream music from a PC using USB.
  • The digital (I2S) output: BCLK is 2.8MHz, the LRCK is 44.1KHz, the MCLK is 11.288MHz. The Mini has to be the master. If connected to device that uses/needs a MCLK (like a DSP board) the Mini's MCLK must be used to drive the slave device.
  • Bluetooth 5.0 but no Aptx, AptxHD, etc.

It's a fine board if you are OK with the constraints.

I’ve got a few of these, one fed via usb from a pc as as my music source and a couple more in different rooms which have add on DACs, it’s definitely mid-fi reproduction, but perfectly acceptable for background music. I play all my digital music plus streaming services.

you can get an old Airport Express A1084 or A1264. you can use its line out but if you get a good dac with toslink input you get much cleaner/better sound..... line out is ok for background music listening.....
Or you can sacrifice the case and use a linear power supply with 5v and 3,3v,might improve its analog sound output..
