TSE II and Electraprint OT's with headphone windings

I've decided to build a TSE II with 45 tubes for headphones using some Electraprint OT's I had wound years ago. I've attached a pic of the values

My headphones are

HE-6 50 Ohm 83.5 db
HE-560 45 Ohm 90 db
HD 650 300 ohm 103 db
DT 770 250 ohm 96 db

Will it be ok to use the HE-560 and 6SE directly on the 32 Ohm tap? I think this will reduce power and decrease distortion. Am I right?

For the HD 650 that matches the impedance so I think I'm good there.

For the DT 770 I would think the 300 ohm tap would increase power and distortion and damage the headphones so it's best to use the 400 ohm tap. Correct?

I built a tse with 45's and electraprint OPTs spec'ed at 5K @ 50ma to 46 and 300 ohm

I liked the 46 ohm setting better with my hd800's.
Not enough power to drive my HE-6SEs. 560 should be fine.

I don't see how you would damage anything with a lower impedance tap, as long as you don't turn it up too loud.
Give it a try.

I didn't use my TSE for a couple years, recently tried to power up and it didn't come up right. Need to figure it out one of these days.

I use an Amp Camp Amp with me HE-6SE's for my main setup.

Hi Randy... I was hoping you'd see this. I have been using the 6SE's with a bottlehead SEX 2.1 and if I feed it from my preamp it drives them fine. Plenty of volume although the amp volume is all the way up and the preamp volume is about 75%

I guess I'll build it and see what happens. Hopefully sooner rather than later

I might have been underdriving it at the time, but since my TSE is sick and I have other projects lined up, not going to try my HE6's with it anytime soon.

Good luck with your project, I really like my TSE.
Going to have to fix it one of these days. Also in hindsight I don't like how my chassis is wired, its a pain to put together. I will likely rearrange things when I get around to fixing it.

For lower power cans, I really like it. At this point I'm only making a new amp for the HE6's, have no desire to build another amp because I don't think it will be better than the TSE.

Putting 250 ohm phones on the 400 ohm tap will reflect a 3125 ohm load onto the 45's. This will not damage anything, but it will increase the distortion. I would use the 120 ohm tap. This will reflect a 10.4 K ohm load on to the 45, which will reduce the power output and distortion.

If you choose to add a resistor in parallel to the phones, a 5 watts resistor is more than enough as a 45 is only capable of about 2 watts.

Thanks George....

I think I'll wire up a connection to the 32 ohm and the 120 ohm. Truth be told, the 45 and 50 ohm will get the most use

If I connect the HD-650's (300 Ohm) to the 300 Ohm tap they could or would see the full 2 watts of the 45 output correct? If so that would be bad since they're rated at 500 mW right?
