Has anyone got any details on the Peerless 830493? My general web search has shown up nothing at all, even on the Peerless web site.
The nearest I can find is this: https://products.peerless-audio.com/transducer/85

Looks like an obscure OEM model to me:

Goes for about £70 a pop in Hungary. 6.5" 8 ohm Nomex Driver. Big magnet so reflex I would think.
Rather nice, IMO. Crossover around 2.5kHz and you could make some nice MTMs. Probably about 87dB.
Probably breaks up sharply around 4.5kHz, so you might notch it. And hope they work.

Hi system7,
That link was most helpful. The reason for the question is that I've bought four of them for £43. That idea of a MTM is rather appealing. I just need to get the parameters for them next.

And WHERE are you going to find the Thiele-Small parameters?
No, I would just wing it and assume it is like the HDS 830883.

Choice of tweeter poses some interest. 6" drivers have terrible time-alignment issues.

Apologies for the delay in responding to everyone's messages. Thank you for the links.
They're all of interest as a friend also got a set of the same drivers. We're looking to take differing approaches based on our personal preferences and comparing the results.
Hopefully I will get a response from Peerless regarding the speaker parameters soon.

My guess is it's a 830883 with a black truncated frame and phase plug plus shielded magnet. Could be a drop-in for it. In that case you are lucky, since quite some designs exist. And the HDS180, as it's also known, was and is a good driver. ChrisABC gave a clue already (the one with the HDS tweeter seems OK to me). As for a data sheet, nothing replaces own measurements 😉
My previous experience has mainly been amps and preamps. I only have a pre-designed speaker kit under my belt thus far, so I guess I'm going to have to learn some new stuff here. The books have arrived, Weems and Dickason, so time to get started.
You won't go far wrong if you crib this SEAS Bragi design:

Probably just have to adjust the tweeter filter a bit for level and slope since the DXT is slightly unusual, being semi-horn loaded.

As a variation, the Nomex 164 design of TG is worth the attention. A 2,5-way might be easier to get right than a MTM design.
Re the 830493. Don't know if it helps the OP. These drivers were the OE fit to the Cyrus CLS70 stand mount... from around 1980 I think. A heavily damped cabinet with front port. I have two pairs of the speakers and really rate them as my personal ideal speaker. As I understand it when Cyrus sought to be a more up market separate arm of Mission they didn't have a speaker worthy of their amps so the CLS70 was developed.

Thanks 70SBOY. I looked up the CLS70.
I'm leaning towards Troel's Nomex 164 Mk2 design. I have access to some Vifa DX25tg-05 tweeters at a good price. The only issue that will need some thinking about is that they're 4 ohm units. It will be a useful exercise in crossover design.
My friend, Captain Dandy, has the same units. We're considering both doing the same design but with different materials. He's looking at Baltic birch whilst I'm looking at self-coloured MDF which apparently slightly denser than standard MDF.
