Hi, I just bought some old speakers from someone in Perth (currently in transit to Melbourne where I am) and these are old sharp cd-k7000 monster speakers, pls see a YouTube video of these speakers where someone has shown how these drivers actually look like, imo they look ok but these are old and I think these are woofers and not full range speakers, I bought these for a few reasons, first I've been wanting to make something (with 10 inch drivers) for a long time, and the required amount of woodworking for the boxes was giving me the nightmares, I wanted something nice and full for my tube amp (which i'll be buying this year), so when I saw this ad for $20 bucks I knew I wanted these, cosmetically these are good and well made boxes, I'll play these speakers and i doubt if i am going to like 'em, I would want to put in full range 10 inch drivers in these boxes.
so please, recommend me 10 inches full range drivers, total budget for 2 drivers = $200-$300

Even an excellent 10" driver at best might reach 1kHz - 2kHz.
Most will have a lot of breakup too.

The ones i heard were quite bad in that respect. Most will have a lot of breakup too.

The 10" fullrange market is also very small, the only one that i know about that is still widely availeble is the Lii Silver 10, and i don't think that is a good one. The Audio Nirva 10" drivers were also terrible, but i heared AN stopped production as the owner wants to retire. So i don't know if they are still availeble.Outside of that i only know PA floormonitor fulrange drivers that need a lot of eq to sound a bit decent, and will never sound hifi. Maybe some old Philips (AD1065) may fit, but those are very old and not often still in good shape. And they do sound old, not hifi to modern standards (but i still like them).
The best fullrange are mostly smaller (8" or less), and a very few bigger (12") with wizeer cones, but those bigger are very seldom good (the only one i know that is good is the Fane 12-250TC).

I have a pair of the Lii silver 10's and I consider them very good, in fact they are currently in my primary system. They do require some EQ, what you would call "baffle step", but they have great articulation and are revealing of amplifier character.

I think i may have a pair of those (might be 12s) in my cheap driver pile. 4 alnico woofers too.Maybe some old Philips (AD1065) may fit

How about ceiling speakers, 10" diameter? I've got Polk MC60's in open baffle, I like them.

Would you consider this 8" (you would have to make a mdf or plywood ring to fit this in.)

The latest email I received from Cube Audio regarding the 10" driver surround being changed from rubber to foam:Cube audio offering some 10" full range drivers, I heard they good, although pricey.

Hello,
We'd like to wish you a great Easter, plenty of peace and joy.
Also, we've a little update for you on the F10 Select and Jazzon speakers. We've done some more experiments and since we haven't started shipping the units yet, we'll be making a change to the F10 Select drivers. After some more testing and prototyping, we decided to go the foam surround on the F10 Select drivers as well. Not only does it have a little more efficiency, but it also has a very nice, richer midrange than before. It's definitely an improvement, so we'll be switching to the new design from now on.
Next week we'll update the site with more information and measurements.
Thanks a lot and we wish you all the best
Sincerely
Grzegorz & Marek
Are they (alone) in a box, or perhaps as a FR in OB, supported by a woofer?I have a pair of the Lii silver 10's and I consider them very good, in fact they are currently in my primary system. They do require some EQ, what you would call "baffle step", but they have great articulation and are revealing of amplifier character.

Thanks.
Mine are the ones in the big bass reflex cabs that they sell directly. They were a gift from a distributor that we share.
I think they are functional as OB drivers, especially if you have a woofer available to do the heavy lifting on the bottom.

You don’t think that Lii Silver 10 is a good one. I have the Silver 10 in OB supplemented with a 15 inch helper woofer. Silver 10 is the best of all drivers I have heard in OB.Mine are the ones in the big bass reflex cabs that they sell directly. They were a gift from a distributor that we share.
