10" Al cone subwoofer drivers as 2-way midbass

I have couple of Peerless 835016 10" drivers. I consider to make two way with compression driver and horn. What you think?
I use a 12 inch subwoofer driver up to 500 hz and am very pleased with the results. These are the challenges:

1. Max crossover 500hz and need a steep slop (24 to 48db per octave) so the cone resonance at 1.5k is adequately handled.

2. The driver will have no directivity at 500hz, so in order to match it up with a horn, you will be using a horn right down to cutoff and having to eq it up a bit there. This will raise distortion in the compression driver there and somewhat limit max spl, but in my mind that's not relevant because the woofer is going to be maxed out before the compression driver in your case if you pick a robust compression driver.

To sum up, you will want to do active xo, like minidsp to make eq and steep slopes practical, and use a robust compression driver on at least a 12 inch horn. I use radian 475 on 375hz tractrix. Best of luck!
