I need help guys! My girlfriend has a premium Harman Kardon audio system in her car. We both love it. She is teasing me about my Tundra's crappy stock sound system all the time. Yes, it is not amazing for sure. I also LOVE clear real sounding music, opera, classical music and hip hop.
My plan is to build an amazing sound system in my Tundra which equals or sounds better than the all around rich, detailed sound of her Volvo.
So HELP ME!!! I am desperate.
My Tundra is a non JBL system, no amplifier and no subwoofer. It has 6 speakers. (2 front, 2 rear and 2 on the instrument panel. no tweeters. )
I would like to replace the stock radio. (Android audio wouldbe great and reverse camera input, the rest I don't care. I just wan to have crystal clear sound...)
Budget: under $1000 or maybe $1500? I am willing to buy used amplifiers, speakers, etc!
Please help a Toyota owner to impress his girlfriend!!!!

Have you tried a Toyota forum? They will know what speakers have worked well in the available locations.
For the electronics, it mainly comes down to features if you stick with brands known to be good quality.

Well, afters years of driving in a Volvo 850 I am very happy with my Ford F 150, but I am hardly listening music in my cars.Buy the same Volvo. Solved plus eternal respect from the girlfriend which is not unimportant 🙂
If we would act with cars as we deal with HiFi then we would have at least 8 cars with different sound quality installations. Still we would use only 1.
Buy several of them from a car breaker's yard, that will be cheaper.
Maybe one off a Lexus, or Infiniti ?
See the speaker quality and make, a lot of people don't pay attention to that aspect.
Try them out for best results.

Buy a Kenwood head unit from their excelon line, use a decent amp, and a well reviewed 2 way (6.5/tweeters) with dedicated crossovers, in the stock speaker locations. Spend a lot of time reinforcing, sealing the doors, and you’ll be fine.
Those head units have a decent eq, and timing adjustments, which helps a lot.
