I just bought a set of monarchy 100 watt monoblock class a amplifiers that the guy had not used for 12 years is there any cleaning methods on that type of amp thats different from a normal power amp? Ive never had a mono block or class a amp before
I had a pair of those, great little amp, though mine were A/B. I don’t recall anything really needing cleaning in them. Probably could ck the bias. There was a rectifier mod that may not have been done, ck with Monarchy they were pretty good at supporting their products. That was a few years ago though.
They sound good but they lack the grunt to drive my Acoustat electrostatics as well as the adcom amp I was running-they are clearer but the adcom is more dynamic and lots more power-bit of a toss up as to which is better
off the subject but my spectra 1100s blew a voice coil this morning :-( it still works but you can hear the drivers distorted if your right up close. do you know where I could find a replacement driver for one of these i dont care if i have to ship it or if its non original as long as the specs are close
