Deleting in the reply box

Not really a problem but different than before, when I type something stupid in the reply box (happens more than I’d like!) and want to remove by hitting the x (above return) it starts out fast but after 15 or so characters it slows to a crawl……used to start slow and then go faster which worked much better.
Everything else working great, and my 2 cent on the like feature is to keep it……makes for easy agreement without having to reply, especially handy for when things start veering off topic.

?? Is this your backspace key? Mac will sometimes call it 'delete', sometimes with an X.

And yes that is the customary way to back-whack text. Normally works fine. On many PCs/Mac/etc, the key-repeat starts one speed and gets faster.

Works fine here. Just deleted 145 dumb characters with no loss of speed.

To figure why it isn't right for you, we may need details. What machine? What browser? Do you have any apps/extensions which affect the keyboard? (I was pointed to an app for my mouse middle button, which as-designed did little at first, but over a week I had too many "Why did it do that?" moments so I killed it.)

Keyboard logger is another suspect. CIA, KGB, last lover, MarkZ...... The logger has to log twice, typing and deleting, and musn't miss any.

Sorry for being dense. I just shot my dog chasing 'squirrel' on my cellphone, YouTube wanted a description. On the pop-up "keyboard" I saw your "X above return". Yes, backspace, I assume.

Cellphones are not text-tools. So far my fingers are the real speed impediment but the cellphone guts don't seem very fast (or iPhone/Android bogs the CPUs badly).

Thanks PRR, yes backspace key……it’s definitely site related as it worked the right way before the format changed and has since slowed down from moderate speed to single letters, used to go from moderate speed to taking whole words. Just checked on other things I type to and it works correctly only here and only since the change.

It’s a gen 5 iPad that is otherwise healthy, its not that big of a deal…….might make me think more b4 I type!

Well like I said it only does it here, more than likely it’s a just a mismatch of an older unit (my iPad) and a new format…….I don’t get on any other forums but everything else I type (email etc) erases properly.
I’ll be upgrading my iPad soon anyway, not complaining just mentioned it to see if there was a easy fix on either end.
Thx, Bob
