The foam surround (20+ years old) in my VMPS subwoofer passive radiator (15") is shot. Wondering how/if other VMPS subwoofer owners dealt with restoring the surround? I'd like to keep the sub, being a DIYer I want to fix it.I know Brian Cheney is gone so I'm out of luck with a replacement driver, specs, etc. Any help would be appreciated.
About your only options I know of is to either try refoaming it or replace it with a Dayton from Parts Express. You can check out the forum in Audio Circle and see if anyone there may be selling a pair. Hope this helps,

I ordered a repair kit from Simply Speakers. I E-mailed last night and they answered this morning , very fast response I was impressed. It is a common problem with older VMPS Subs they say , they are aware of it and have a kit that works . $25.00 bucks shipped .
I had the guy on ebay that owns Speaker World (Florida, Pinellas Park) refoam all (4) 12 inch drivers including the (2) 12 inch passive radiators on my tower II VMPS over 20 years ago and they are still intact and functional .He has an ebay store but I don't see any activity. He used to sell refoam kits for everything. Knowledgable pleasant guy.It looks like his ebay account is still alive, he would know what to use on them for sure.
