QSC CX12T 70V transformer removal

I have a couple of QSC CX12T amps that have massive 70V output transformers in them that are horrendously heavy. I only use the 8 ohm output and would like to jettison those hunks of iron if I can. The 8 ohm output comes directly from a connector on the main board, while the transformer is fed from a different connector on the board. Just wondering if I can just completely disconnect it without affecting the normal 8 ohm operation. Has anyone tried this?

Thanks for the response. Yes, once I disassembled the amp I saw that the primary of the toroidal transformers are simply connected to the 8 ohm outputs. Just wondering if the amp will be unhappy not having that extra inductance connected. I notice the main board is stickered "CX12T", they also make a standard CX12 (no 70&100V line output) It looks like the only differences noted I see on the schematic are on the display board notes 6 & 7. But it makes me wonder why label the main board with the "T" suffix if that part is the same for both versions. I'll have to just disconnect the transformers and connect some speakers and see how it goes.
