Seems like they have got a long way to go before they will produce a turntable that is anything more than a fancy toy. For example there's a twist in the tonearm that is creating an obvious and serious azimuth error at the headshell. A device like a turntable has many parts with different functions and to optimise the performance of each part the mechanical properties of the material the part is made from are critical. Many of those parts simply cannot be made from plastic.

However 3-D printing is a fantastic way to produce some parts in low volumes at low cost. Some years ago I repaired a Technics SL-1500 Mk2 turntable with a broken moulding around the base of the tonearm which controls the tonearm cueing. The genuine parts supply from Panasonic had dried up decades ago, but someone else had created a 3D scan of the part and the part is now available to order from a 3D printer. Without this part the whole turntable is only good for parts or the trash.
