Alpine MRV-F300 won't turn off most of the time.

Alpine MRV-F300 turns on whevever a door is opened?

This is an edited post - I wired up an Alpine MRV-F300. I used the speaker-level inputs. My HU doesn't have a remote-lead. The manual says that if using the speaker level inputs, you don't need the remote-lead, except in some cases.

My problem is that whenever I open the door, the amp comes on, even if the HU isn't on yet. Does anyone have an idea why or what to check for?

Thanks.

Okay, so I managed to get my head in the door, right after opening, and caught the light on the amp turning on. So it seems like something is triggering it on when I open the doors. Does that make sense to anyone?

Will wiring the remote lead prevent this? I'm guessing not. To my understaning, the remote lead just sends a weak voltage to the amp which turns it on, and when it's no longer present, the amp turns off based on some kind of timer? Is that correct? Or is it something more like, if the amp is turned on by the remote-lead, it turns of immediately after that signal is gone?

Sorry for my confusion, but I couldn't find a decent explanation of this in the manual.

Okay, the door-opening triggering the amp on is repeatable. I don't think the problem is that the amp won't turn off. It seems to do that fine after a few minutes. It's just that opening the door turns it on, even before the HU has been turned on. I thought it had been staying on because I would get in, sit down, then look at it, and by that time, it was already on, and I thought it had been on the whole time.

But why would opening the door trigger it? I was under the impression that without the remote turn on actually being wired, it would only turn on if a signal was detected from the speaker level inputs. But when I'm opening the door and the amp is coming on, the HU is off.

Is it true that the amp shoudln't turn on unless it gets either a signal from the remote turn on input, or the speaker level input?

Well I solved this - sort of. I left my ipod plugged into the HU and noticed that when I open the door, it chimes as if it is recieving a charge votlage. This is even though the HU is off. So, the HU is also probably sending out enough voltage through the speaker leads to trigger the amp on, again, even though it is off. I'm not going to worry about it. The amp shuts off after a few, if nothing else happens.
