Is there a preference for power capacitors in a rockford amp? I am replaceing the caps in a 301x and would like to narrow down my options.
Rated for 105C and with low ESR are important.
If you're going to change anything with the value, don't increase capacitance. Use a higher rated voltage.

OK thanks, so its a bad idea to add a capacitor if there is a space open on the board and increase the capacitance? I'm wondering why.
I was referring to the individual capacitors.
You didn't post a photo or give any other information as to the caps. IF you're referring to the primary filter caps, adding additional caps likely won't do any harm if they're added in locations that were provided by the board layout.
