req. suggestions for re-purpose / salvage damaged LCD TV

Hello,

My 32 inch LCD TV's screen/panel got damaged and its not showing up picture well. Service guy told its not reparable and only option is to replace the LCD panel, with its cost and panel availability in question, its better to go for new TV.

Is there anything interesting we may make out of this TV, re-purpose or salvage any parts in it to make something useful.
We may get couple of speakers, but again it will be difficult to plan for a box for them without its specifications (ts parameters).

While looking in youtube/internet only thing i found so far is to re-purpose it as a big bright lamp, which is not much interesting or worth with the size of lamp we will be getting.
Is there any thing else we can do with it.

Panels have gone up in price, so much so that old LCD TV are being got for 5000, the panel is then sold as serviceable replacement for 7000.
New TV is 10000 onwards.
Trade it in, see around for offers, anything more than 1000 is okay.
Speakers, back light, main board and other parts are useful only to repair similar models.
Is yours sourced from UAE?
Sony?
In both cases, they die in India due to heat and supply fluctuations.

Sony had a joint venture in Japan with Samsung for panels, which they exited for financial reasons, the plant is now owned by Samsung, Sony uses those high quality panels only in their most expensive range.
Lower ranges use generic Chinese panels, and they come apart in our heat.
Also, the power supplies are flimsy.
So Sony is just Chinese junk with a fancy sticker in most cases.

Your choice is to repair...not worth it.
Go for LG, Samsung, Panasonic, check around which are performing well with your neighbors. Some people have also bought TCL...
Suitable panels are difficult to source, as the definition has gone up.

Now it seems more of the larger 43 and 55 inch screens are being sold, the price had gone down.
Now with the chip shortage and market uncertainty, prices have gone up, and are increasing, so buy it now.

TV were so cheap in UAE that it was cheaper to make a visit and get TV from there, as Indian rate was so high.
Most of those failed, as they were cheaper models, you are lucky it lasted so long.
Nobody who had a failure bought Sony again, as they realized it was a faulty product. The panels went fuzzy, rarely bright lines.
And ask repair people, they will know which model is good, and which is trouble prone before buying.

I kind of forget how lucky I am being in the US because they literally give away flat screen TVs for free and just the other day I saw one that was like $10 for a 32in just because someone was moving and this happens all the time.

heck I just picked up a 720p projector for $5 just the other day. works great nothing wrong with it.

I also have a Sony television here in the US and I have to admit the problem with it is the board that actually runs the LCD screen itself and that alone is $50 here in the US.
I can fix it but the television is only 1080P and I just bought a full brand new even larger screen than this one for $360 which is a 4K sharp model which is a smart TV as well.

if I find the t-con board cheap then I might take a stab at it but quite honestly I really don't care I don't even watch TV that often.

what I can suggest is that you can use the parts as an HDMI to Optical converter if you have Optical on your television and that way you can pipe Aires audio out from the circuit board or the television and that is one good use for the TV.

as far as the speakers go many of them are already in their own enclosures inside the television so you don't have to worry about ts parameters.

Now, if you just want to have FUN with the Television? there's actually something really neat you can do with it and that's actually making a video coffee table with it.
if it is one of those smart televisions you can actually pipe the stuff wirelessly and it will be kind of fun to have in your living room if you decide to build something like that.

if the picture quality is still good enough for static images you can always make a floor display and use it as a sales tool if you want and that would work out kind of fun if you want to do something like that as a video doormat that only lights up when people come in. he probably uses Cool cathodes in the back and if you want you can actually make some really cool lights out of them if you feel like it but if you want to use it Outdoors you can always see left the circuit board in some kind of Dielectric grease and just use standard LEDs to backlight it and it would make a pretty cool video doormat that way,

it would be relatively flat and with the few additions of some paneling it will be really cool you can usually get panels from those overhead fluorescent light fixtures for cheap and that should work pretty well for a 32-inch size.

most of these displays actually use some of the same connectors even though the physical panel is different you can sometimes see if a different panel might actually fit within the Sony television as long as it uses the same lvds signals but again that's just an option if you're looking for repair or refurbishment.

are you possibly able to post a picture of the problem or YouTube video of what the issue with the particular display is?
