Novo Headphone Amp Kit

I built this kit today in two hours and you would not believe that it really sounds very good.

Don’t know why the link says verify your identity. It will take you to Walmart.

It seems to be a 47. Design by Apheared. An improved CMOY mint-tin portable. If the parts are not crap, it does very well in high-Z phones and not bad in low-Z.
How to build the Apheared 47 Headphone Amplifier for Grado Headphones – Ben Feist

No, you never could build the Apheared for $15 even with a free case. That's Asian mass-production and low-bid contracting.

The Walmart page has an invisible-to-humans intermediate page. The DIYAudio server pokes the Walmart server for a page title, and gets the for-robots page and title. Happens a lot in this modern web (the forum server code is very old). You "can" manually edit the link in your posting, but few do.

Thanks for all the replies. Unfortunately, my amp is not working now. I posted in another thread: What Kills Wall Warts? and explained what may have happened to the amp.

Might as well explain here as well. The hpa kit did not come with a power supply and called for 12-18vdc, but no mention of the current needed. I just happened to have a 15vdc 400ma wall wart. Honestly, the amp was working great. I disconnected the power from the amp, I was just moving it around, it has no power switch. When I connected it again, there was a spark at the input power jack and also a very loud hum when I turned up the volume. I measured the voltage on the wall wart with a multimeter and it read 22vdc, not 15vdc. So, I’m assuming the wall wart went bad eventually because of insufficient current and may have already damaged the circuit. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Could anyone help me with a little troubleshooting of my amp I recently built and have been talking about. The amp was working great and then out of nowhere, there is now a loud buzzing sound when I turn up the volume. I rechecked all of my solder connections and touched up a few of them, they all look good now, but still the buzzing. I can’t figure what may have happened, since the amp was working great.

Possibly the only variable that can change relatively short term is the supply voltage if it is a battery, if so, replace it.

First, check all electrolytic capacitors. ESR, capacity, V-loss.
Then, you could have posted the diagram you received with this kit ****. No one wastes their time with such cheap things without clear details.
The fact that something is wrong does not mean that it has the same solution, regardless of the situation.

and now trying a 12vdc at 500ma.

Ok, give more details about the power supply. Not all can ensure a proper ripple.

I would have to get a capacitance meter. Just have a regular digital multimeter right now. The directions called for the circuit to have 12-18vdc. I originally used a 15vdc 400ma wall wart. I’m assuming the wall wart went bad because it was measuring 22vdc not 15vdc.
