Hello, I am looking for someone who can help me. I recently bought a sansui seven and now suddenly there is no more FM stereo and the signal vu is no longer dropping out. The mono button doesn't seem to do what it's supposed to do either, but it's all related because it worked right after I bought it. I am grateful for any help, possibly someone from the area around Rendsburg with whom I can go through the device because I would also like to learn something. I look forward to messages best regards Karin
Do you use your own antenna or does the antenna signal come from a cable provider? I don't know about your country, but the cable providers here in the Netherlands are switching off FM radio.
If you use your own antenna, could there be something wrong with it?

Many FM tuners switch to mono if the signal strength is low, because the noise in
stereo is 20dB higher than in mono. Try to get a stronger signal, at least for testing.
There may not be anything wrong with the tuner. Even a piece of wire connected to
the antenna terminal should work fine on a strong local station.

The stereo Signal was there when the receiver arrived but I had to clean a lot of switches with contact cleaner and hours later this signal vu did not turn out anymore and the FM Stereo light is not showing and i'm pretty sure that what I hear is Mono
Look for a switch either on the back or front of the tuner that says stereo/mono. Give that switch some more cleaning,
and then switch it back and forth many times. It should clear then.
Also look for a switch that says local/DX, some tuners have this to prevent RF overload on strong FM stations.
Do the same cleaning for that switch, if present.
