Visaton BG 20 91L BR

Hi folks! I've checked some threads here about the bg-20 and thought I should at least share what I built afterwards.. This is my noob experience with the Visaton BG 20 full range driver.

I needed a couple of speakers for my newly acquired Xindak MT3 tube amp.
In waiting for a kit of better drivers I made a couple of BR boxes with these super cheap bg-20 in the mean time.. They are on 91 liter because that was what I had material for. 110Liter+ looked better in the simulations though.
They are tuned at 40hz.
I am impressed with the sound compared to the price and I will keep these speakers for daily listening on another amp when the new speakers are built.
If I build with bg 20 again I will probably add a couple of tweeters for more presence, but for daily background music it isn't needed.
Sorry for my crappy english..
Anyways..
Cheers!

Very nice work!

I am currently planning on building a pair of enclosures for BG 20 with planar open baffle tweeter but I am not sure how big of a box I really want. Visaton recommends 50L vented box tuned to 45Hz which controls cone excursion quite well but it sacrifices a bit of low end. I wonder how much low end is enough and how to prioritize max power handling. I know I know...MDF is cheap so a test box is not a problem but still, I like to over think such projects 😀

If you realy want to use BG20 and experience great sounding speaker then I highly recommend any of Klang+Ton Cheap Trick combos like CT230, CT232 or CT273... you can find more info on Cheap Tricks
I've heard CT230 with B300SE amp, and that's really great sounding system.
Just my 23 cents...
P.S. Better to say, I recommend that as Your starting point for developing Your own system

Thanks for reminding me of cheap tricks. I was thinking of building a CT285 but I would rather use an actual tweeter instead of frs5x. But that would eventually cost much more as I would still need a filler driver similar to frs5x...decisions, decisions
