I’m surprised with how small dispersion correcting modifiers can be and still work well down to 4kHz.
And with how critical exact angle is.

J. de Boer described the vented loudspeaker well before neville thiele. he named it the "basreflex" principle
Philips was a powerhouse of research and development. They had some exceptional products, ideas and researchers up till about the mid eighties.
So so sad how that giant has fallen, and how there is no big recreational consumer electronics producer in Europe anymore.

Bill Perkins was one of my gurus in the early days. He has done some very good work. I met him because he wa sthe guy making Radford S90 TLs in Calgary.

The last time I checked, the vented box / bass reflex loudspeaker was invented by Albert Thuras of Bell Labs, as detailed in his patent of 1932.
